Character Maker is a tool to help create toon base character and its rig. I created it to explore Maya API and automize the character creation process.
It includes one neutral cartoon base and three personalized cartoon figures. Users can further adjust facial features such as head shape, nose shapes, eyes, eyelash shapes, mouth, and lips’ shapes for different cartoon character looks. (It also comes with hairstyles and eyebrows )
As for the rigging part, the tool lets users quickly add a rig to the character mesh, create controls, IK/FK switch, rename according to user input, and group them.
The tool also provides skin weight IO, allowing users to reuse the previous setting and apply it to the entire mesh or specific parts.
